Things I wish I’d done differently this morning:
*Woke the children earlier
*Brushed my teeth and put deodorant on before we left to drop Ninja Boy at school
*Worn a bra instead of shelved tank
*NOT worn a hooded sweatshirt
*NOT let Sunshine wear her Christmas skirt, red horse t-shirt and American flag flip-flops
*NOT left my purse in the backseat of the car at Target
*Or…realized that I had before I shut the locked door

I’m smiling, I really am.
An impromtu stop at Target after dropping NB off led to a very, very, stupid mistake. After the nice customer service lady let me use her phone and phone book to call The Man (who didn’t hear his phone - he was working) and the police (who would only help if I’d locked a child in the car), I tried one more time to get in through my trunk (haha, yes, my TRUNK was open…yippee!). When that didn’t work, I cried a little bit and decided to walk home.
I miraculously found my extra key right away. So I changed my clothes and we headed back. Sunshine rode her bike this time, which made it SO much faster. (OMG!). When we got there, I decided we’d been through a lot and could use some retail therapy. We both picked out a bunch of stuff to try on. I even bought a dress*.
In the end, it wasn’t a bad day. I think the Universe picked up that I wasn’t going to get in my exercise and forced it upon me.
So, anyway! That took a lot of time out of my day and I didn’t get all my writing I wanted done. Boo.
I had to thank you for all the birthday wishes, though!
My grandparents were in town for the weekend, so Saturday, we went to my mom’s for lunch.
She insisted that I leave the kids for the night and go out. “Get dressed up and go out!” She said. “Put on some nice clothes and have a good time!”
* “These are my nice clothes!” I said…which is why I bought the dress.
We did end up going out. To TGI Fridays as predicted. Really late, too. But we had fun.
I scored some Twins tickets from a guy at work Thursday. So after brunch with the family on Sunday, we headed down to the Metrodome to watch our Piranhas take on the Red Sox. We lose by a run…but we were really close to Tori Hunter AND the bullpen. I don’t get to do stuff like this very often so I was really excited to be so close.
I’m sure I’m missing stuff, but I’m tired and I need a shower like you wouldn’t believe (you so think I’m sexy now, huh?).
I’ll see you all tomorrow with part 3 or 4 or whatever it is.

Sorry you didn't get to enjoy your day as much as you had hoped. At least you got a new dress...
Looking forward to more of the story and I glad you got to see the Red Sox (my team :))
What a day... Hoping you'll post a pic of the dress!
Which dress did you get? There's some REALLY cute ones at Target right now. I got a white one on clearance last week I'm dying to wear (yay for our nice weather!)
That totally sucks about locking your keys in the car :( I've done that before. I heard some trick that if you have automatic doors you can do it over a cell if there's someone on the other end with an opener or something?
Well, I'm a loser and don't have auto locks...haha..my mom said the same thing!
I felt like such a moron...and we were dressed like total scrubs, they probably thought I was a crackhead...even more so when we were walking. (I will never again shout stuff about walking your kids in a safe place because now I know why they were probably doing it).
It's super cute..it was clearance (do I buy any other kind??). It's black with white flowery things or something, kind of 40's looking? Sunshine actually picked it out!! I tried it on just for the hell of it and loved it! I will take a picture soon and get it on Flickr.
(I'm glad everyone is so happy for me about my dress, btw!)
Life is always better with retail therapy!
Did you totally enjoy the SAHM life even with all the mishaps ? I swear I absolutely cherish the moments when I can play SAHM !!!
Oh and retail therapy, I'm so with you on that. I used to think I might need a support group for my habit I used to shop so much when I was mad, glad, sad, pissed whatever. It always made me feel better - and still does!
You know, this kind of thing happens to me all the time. That's why I made my husband get me a triple A membership. They even unlock your doors when your in a different state...yes, it has happened to me in Hawaii!
I used to go to TGIF all the time. I love their Margaritas.
Glad to hear you went out on your birthday and had time with your family. I am a bit jealous that you still have your grandparents around. All of mine are gone and I started out with six (Dad's parents divorced and married other people)I really miss my Grandma.
Sorry I haven't been visiting much but I try.
