You MIGHT be a MN Redneck...

I was ecstatic.

The Man and I had finally settled on our wedding colors.

Plum and Gold.

Perfect for a late summer wedding.

I lay in bed reading a bridal magazine and envisioning my colors in the dresses, the decor, the flowers. "Deep purple rose petals with...I guess we'd have to have yellow instead of gold." I thought out loud.

I pictured Sunshine's petals hitting the aisle.

"Shit." I blurted out. "We picked the damn Vikings colors."

Back to the drawing board.

Oh No! Coffee almost came out of my nose when I read "Vikings colors"!

They are pretty colors any way so why not just forget about the vikings. Good news though, most of the shops (flower, bakery, etc) will have those colors readily available for you :-)

That was the initial plan, also because I planned on using GLITTERY gold, not YELLOW gold, but then the pregame show we watched, the Vikes have started using GLITTERY gold instead. MF'ers. The Man really doesn't want to keep them after this realization because EVERYONE at the wedding will be like "Yep, The Man LOOOOOVES his Vikings!" He LIKES the Vikings. He doesn't LOVE them. He LOVES me. And I want our wedding day to reflect THAT love. HAHAHAHA.

I think we're going to slide the color over to Burgundy instead. Kind of the same...just different.

HAHAHA! A true Minnesotan I think. Chad is from Minnesota too and he LOVES his Vikings as well. Adores them. Even when they lose. If he had any idea that he could have a say in our wedding colors I am sure we would have Viking colors too! :)

Haha. I'm sorry but that's so funny.

Picking my wedding colors was the HARDEST part for me! I just couldn't commit!! Good luck with all of that!!

Better than Green and Yellow!! I am no Pack fan even though I live in WI.

I didn't even think Vikings colors at first...your brother would be so disappointed in me! The only thing with burgundy (Well, maroon) and gold is gopher colors.

You could do Plum and lighter-plum or cream?

Colors are hard :(

Those DAMN gophers!!!

What other freaking sports teams do we have here? Timberwolves are blue and sivler, right? Twins are red and blue (no prob there).

Why do they have to steal my gold? That's the only color I've been set on - because I picked it like TEN YEARS ago.

Maybe make the burgundy a red? Their official colors are "Maroon and Gold" according to their website.

I think gold would be sooooo pretty. Their gold is more yellow-gold anyways!

I like plum and gold! Purple and gold are my alma mater colors.

And...I can't wait to read more of your wedding updates!

Dude! Professional football players are wearing glittery gold now? Are they singing show tunes in the locker room at halftime? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Also, at the wedding I went to Saturday night, the bridal party entered the reception hall to the theme music from Monday Night Football. You could do that, too, if you opt for the Vikings colors.

Sigh. Weddings. Sigh.

And Sunshine's petals hitting the aisle.

SIGH!

Wow. It's going to be so incredible, MN-redneck-y or not!

lmao tooooooooo funnyyyy. Look forward to more tales of wedding planning. Thanks for sharing.

Heh. Thanks for the music suggestion, Becki! :) Actually, the gold pants I thought the vikings were wearing were on St. Louis (What!? I was whining about leaving, not actually WATCHING it!), but the Cheerleaders did switch to gold pom-poms and added gold to their outfits.

It's mostly the purple. In Minnesota, a deep purple signifies the Vikings or Prince - How I forgot that I don't know! hahah.

You could always do a Viking themed wedding. You know instead of a punch bowl you could serve punch out of a helmet ... weirder things have been done in the name of a wedding.

Ok, only kidding. Love burgundy and or deep red. I found the cutest dresses for TomGirl & GPT that were cream and had faux rose petals in the mesh part of the skirt. (they were flower girls). I thought my bridesmaids dresses were going to come out deep red but instead they came out burgundy. Initially I was so pissed and then I thought what the hell...I gotta go with the flow on something or my head will explode.

Good luck w/planning!

Oops, forgot I wasn't signed in to my WM account. That's my comment above in case you hadn't guessed already.

I don't think the Vikings would ever call their colors "Plum & Gold" (at least not the straight football players). And in Truth, their colors are lighter and really more of a true purple and true yellow.

My wedding color was purple. I accented it with lavendar and yellow. Something to think about. Because you know you want to be like me. ha ha ha. Just kidding.
