A Tragedy.

When I see bad things that happen in other states, I worry.

Something happens in Seattle, I call my mom to see if she’s heard from her brother.

Storms in Tennessee, I call my mom to make sure my grandma and aunt have checked in.

I might check out my friends’ blogs if something happens in their area, just to make sure they’re okay.

I only have to check in once, because I just don’t know that many people in those places.

But today…today I sit and wait. I pray nobody I know was affected by the bridge collapse. I pray for those families who are.

Immediate phone calls to family assured me that they are okay. I’m okay. I’ll take The Man’s advice and be thankful for that. But I will continue to pray for the victims and their families. And I will continue to ache every time I see the wreckage, knowing how many lives have been disturbed, though they don’t accurately show how this tragedy has shaken our beautiful city.

I have to say as I watched the news report I thought about you and wondered if you were ok. I wasn't sure how close you lived but knew you were somewhere in the area. So again I'm very glad your ok.
But of course I'm saddened for all the families that were affected by this tragedy. It's absolutely devasting and scary to say the least!

After my husband's family, you were the next person I thought of. Glad everyone's okay!

I'm so glad you're okay. I used to live in St. Paul and know that bridge well. Everyone I know in the Twin Cities are okay, thankfully. I'm just so... in shock.

I completely forgot you lived in MN. Chad's sister lives in MN and she called us right away to tell us she was okay. I used to work at UHC and their mother ship is in MN, I hope everybody there is okay too. The whole thing is beyond tragic and scary. Especially since they don't know what went wrong. I am so glad you and yours are okay. Hugs to you.

Right when I first heard about this, you left a comment on my blog. I was relieved to see that whatever else was going on, you were okay--okay enough to be commenting! I can only imagine the aftermath and how... unpleasant it's going to be. Painful and sad. I'm sorry you have to be so near the action and the pain. Oh, but I'm so glad that you and yours are okay!!!

I saw the pictures and nearly wept. I can't imagine the horror of actually having been there when it happened.

I'm so glad that you're okay, but I feel so horrible for the people whose friends and family members aren't.

I still can't believe that the whole bridge is gone. It's the most frightening thing I have ever seen.

But I agree with you -- I think our community will do a great job pulling together to get through this.

That said, don't go and read the rants and raves on Craigslist.

You can read the nice raves on craigslist....just not the rest. It's kinda ridiculous!

I read some of the good ones and got all pumped and proud of our city and was really touched by the support from across the country....but accidentally read some not so nice ones :(

That said, the entire experience still feels so surreal.

Hi. Came over from Brillig. I am across the river in WI and I couldn't tear myself away from the TV a week ago. Praying with you for the recovery.
