Family Vacation

We took the kids to the Wisconsin Dells last week. It was my first time there (even though I grew up in Wisconsin) and now I'm really grateful I went when I did! I know a lot of us have had a lot of rain lately -Lake Delton flooded and reconstructed (and emptied) itself.

Anyway - on to the pictures!

We took the long way there and stopped for a tour at Niagara Cave before visiting with the grandparents for a night.
Once in the Dells, we rode horses at Canyon Creek Stables.

The stables had a cool petting zoo with a llama/alpaca (I can never tell the difference) who hissed a lot.

And a baby goat that loved Alyssa almost as much as she loved it.

We took a ride on the Original Wisconsin Ducks.

And played some mini-golf at Pirate's Cove.

We had a yummy lumberjack breakfast at Paul Bunyan's Cook Shanty.

And toured the Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum.

Our KidCabin Suite at the Great Wolf Lodge was totally worth the money.

Their waterpark was fun, too! The family (mostly Mike) ran to get dumped on by The Giant Bucket every five minutes.

By our second night, the rain had started in so the camera started getting left in the car. Our Lower Dells tour excursion into Witches Gulch was the last time it made it out for a while.

Garsh, lotto, thanks! Normally I delete spam but yours made me smile. Even the hungry comment.

Kate - SO funny - I met my grandma's friend again for the first time in like 15 years and she said about Alyssa, "She looks JUST like you, Amy." We all just smiled. I think it's the attitude/facial expressions she picked up from me.

The first pic of Niagara Cave brought back memories of an elementary school field trip there from good old Austin, MN. It was so cold inside even though it was sunny and 70 outside.

Awww... very fun! I haven't been to Wisconsin Dells in so long... almost 20 years! And I live in Wisconsin. I think I need to go again soon.

Glad you had fun!

Aah, the family vacay. How fun! We haven't been on a family vacay since the twins were 3. Oops, thanks for reminding me what a slacker I am. ;)

Seriously though looks like you guys had a blast!

(We just got a Great Wolf Lodge here in WA State only about 1 hour away from me. I'm excited to try it out.)

My parents honeymooned in the Dells and my favorite pics of them are when they were riding in the "ducks" boats.
I've only been there once (and only for a 1/2 day), but we managed to cram in the "Believe it or not" museum and the wax museum next door.

Did you get a bag of dirt? You know the gold/gem mine thing? It is soooo worth it! I waited through hours and hours of flight delays to pick up my boyfriend at the time. With two toddlers in tow mind you. Finally, his flight came and we were home by 1 AM. He was tickled to death when he presented me with my souvener present from his trip. There I was in the kitchen and he hands me a large bag of DIRT! Discussed I went to bed. The next morning he showed me how to sift through the dirt For what I didn't know but I humored him as the kids seemed facinated. One LARGE emerald, two pre cut citrines, a ruby and several other stones later...well, there was hugging and kissing.
